10. Jason Must Decide Whether Or Not To Kill His Friends - Far Cry 3
Far Cry 3 is a great game; there's no doubting that. As Jason, a 25-year-old from Los Angeles, you find yourself stranded on a island in the pacific overrun by drug lords and militant groups, tasked with saving an ancient tribe from total destruction and rescuing your friends, who have been captured. And so Jason must go from punkass kid to badass warrior. The big problem comes at the end of the game, however, when Jason is suddenly given two options by a high priestess named Citra: become the ultimate warrior by killing his friends, or, you know, not doing that and leaving the island instead. And it's the fact that the game actually gives you this choice that makes no sense, because for the sum of the whole game Jason has been out to save his friends. That's what he cares about. At absolutely no point in the narrative is any other possibility hinted at, and it's completely illogical that the game would even present the player with this option because as a story beat, Jason betraying his companions without reason... well, it has no weight. The Jason of the game would never kill his friends - the whole point of Far Cry 3 is that he's out to rescue them! It's ridiculous that the game lets you do it if you want.
