10 Video Game Endings That Made No Sense

8. The Girl - Limbo

For the most part, Limbo is a pretty straight-forward video game; players control a small boy who must journey through a land on the brink of darkness - filled with violence and horror and images that will give you lots of nightmares - in order to save his sister. The ending - which purposely cements itself as a "Huh?" moment - occurs when players are flung through a glass window, only to find themselves at the beginning of the very first level all over again. Starting playing, however, and the game reveals a girl standing just ahead of you. There's a moment, and then... the game suddenly cuts to black. This was supposed to be ambiguous, of course; the kind of ending that people would discuss and debate. But it also makes little sense. There's not enough information here to warrant a conversation about "what happened." Why did the boy go all the way back to the beginning? For what reason? Who is the girl? Why was she there? Ultimately, Limbo's ending simply lacked clarity. It felt half-assed and was way too vague to be considered "clever."
