5. Cole's New Look (Infamous 2)

Cole MacGrath's simple yet iconic character design is a defining feature of the Infamous franchise. Sure, it's nothing groundbreaking, but the buzz cut, signature colour scheme, and steely expression were enough to make him stand out in the late 2000s. Overall, fans were used to his look and had few complaints about it.

What they did have complaints about, however, was the reveal of his updated look in Infamous 2.

When fans spied Cole's updated aesthetic during Infamous 2's gameplay reveal, they saw quite the change. Gone was his bald head, replaced with a short but thick cut. On top of that was the face and clothing remodel, which made him look like a different person, dressing him in a casual black t-shirt, toed shoes, and neck accessories. The change-up even saw his voice actor recast.

Rather than accepting this new look, Infamous fans took to forums and social media to denounce it, with the outcry becoming so severe that Sucker Punch, the developers, listened and scrapped the design (as per Game Rant). They ultimately returned Cole to a familiar state, albeit with elements from the redesign and the new VA kept in.
