10 Video Game Franchises In Denial About Being Over
6. Castlevania
Even though the most die-hard fans of Castlevania were probably not expecting much from Warren Ellis' animated series, viewers were blown away. Thanks to the gorgeous animation, incredible performances, and complex plot, Netflix's adaptation may be the greatest video game adaptation ever.
When the Castlevania series came to an astounding climax in 2021, interest in the vampire-themed platformer had never been higher.
But let's not forget that Castelvania in the gaming world has been spiralling downward for a decade. During the millennium, the franchise was releasing quality entries like Circle of the Moon and Harmony of Dissonance.
And when Metal Gear's Hideo Kojima released Castlevania: Lord of Shadow in 2010, it looked like the series was hitting its zenith.
Sadly, LoS was the last great Castlevania game. Its direct sequels turned out so poorly, Konami has only released remakes and collections since. It's heartbreaking to dismiss the series since Super Castlevania IV and Symphony of the Night are among the most influential games ever made.
But unless Konami are ready to go beyond the call of duty to release a game worthy of the franchise, it might be better to let Castlevania rest.
