10 Video Game Franchises Ruined By Studio Takeovers

It's safe to say that, if a character exists for long enough, they'll almost definitely be redesigned at some point. And being redesigned can sometimes do more damage than good - say, for example, that redesign of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles that made them look more like they were going to eat souls than some radical pizza.

Crash went through a transformation that was very much similar to this, only instead of making him into a cosmic horror, something worse happened - they tried to make Crash... cool. He got tribal hand tattoos, a new trendy haircut, and a pair of oddly detailed jeans.

It wasn't a cosmic crime, but when combined with the fact that the game this change came in - Crash of the Titans - wasn't all that stellar, a whole lot of people turned sour on the franchise as a whole. This was especially unfortunate for Radical Entertainment, who at the time were the most recent studio house to take on developing the Bandicoot series.

After doing a decent job of making Crash Tag Team Racing entertaining, it seems Radical wanted to add some new life into the franchise - although it feels like the opposite happened until the main trilogy was rebooted.
