10 Video Game Franchises That Desperately Need Reboots
8. Dino Crisis
Dino Crisis is an all time classic of the PlayStation 1, combining the ‘90s love for Jurassic Park and Resident Evil into a strange and wonderful survival horror.
The first two games fully bought into the concept, swarming you with dinosaurs and extracting every bit of terror out of what could have been a very goofy premise. However, spin-off game Dino Stalker and third instalment Dino Crisis 3 suffered from low sales and poor critical reception, and the series was put on ice.
Having been left off the PlayStation Classic, if it’s going to recover now it needs a reboot.
The biggest failure of the third game was a wonky camera which couldn’t keep up with the players’ fast movements. This minor issue on the surface actually underpinned the whole game and left it a frustrating mess.
These days, games no longer need the locked ‘security camera’ style angles of old survival horrors, so this issue may be a thing of the past. With much smoother gameplay, Dino Crisis could be great again.
Considering both Jurassic Park and Resident Evil have enjoyed a rebirth lately, the time may be right for Dino Crisis to rise again too.
