5. Josh's Dead Sisters - Until Dawn

Until Dawn's big plot twist is that the masked psycho killer was in fact one of the playable characters all along, the schizophrenic Josh (Rami Malek).

His mental illness is best characterised by a chilling late-game sequence in which the player regains control of Josh for a harrowing hallucination, where Josh is haunted by visions of his two dead sisters, who perished at Blackwood Mountain the year prior.

It gets worse, though. Josh is then confronted by a gigantic pig's head, before his sisters re-emerge from a pile of guts and one of them rips their faces off to reveal the skeletal visage beneath, and finally, a gigantic Wendigo face materialises to screech at him.

In terms of getting players into the headspace of a psychotic murderer, the scene certainly did a fantastic job, that's for sure.
