10 Video Game Levels We Hate

3. Halo - The Library

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwJ-TyWeMGw A small but notable, even unforgettable blemish on a fantastic game; Halo changed the face of the console FPS, but wasn't without one major qualification - the dire, repetitive, lazy Library level mid-way through the game. Master Chief has to run through a seemingly endless number of corridors and open spaces, shooting the much-maligned - if somewhat terrifying - Flood, who are basically a cross between a baby xenomorph from Alien and the head-crabs from Half-Life. All this level does is take what is until this point a freaking epic game, and slow it down, having these creatures spawn in exactly the same locations several times over, while you, with an increasing lack of enthusiasm, have to mow them down. It's not like this level is even hard; it's just monotonous and so damn long. This is an instance of one level we wish could have just been omitted entirely; there's not really much of a story reason for it to unfold in such a way, so just get rid of the damn thing.
