When Cal Cestus meets smooth-talking mercenary Bode Akuna at the start of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the pair quickly strike-up a friendship. After barely surviving a daring heist on Coruscant, Cal invites him to join his crew on his search for Tanalor, a hidden planet that he believes could be a sanctuary for those hunted by the Empire.

However, their relationship changes when Cal reconsiders his plans for Tanalor late in the game. Rather than make the planet their own haven, he believes that it would be more beneficial if the Hidden Path used it to better prepare for their fight against the Empire.

Bode is noticeably shaken by this news, with his sudden change in demeaner implying that dreadful things are coming.

These fears are realised upon returning to the Jedi hideout whereupon Bode brutally betrays his friends in one of the most shocking moments in recent games. Not only does he kill Eno and escape with the device needed to reach Tanalor, but he tells Darth Vader where the Jedi are hiding.

While his actions were unforgivable, having to fight Cal's close friend was nevertheless a painful emotional blow for players.
