6. The Bucket Trick - Skyrim

If you've seen any of the Ocean's films (most tend to skip the first ten), you'll know that a big-money heist requires elaborate planning, picture-perfect execution, and an all-star Hollywood cast numbering in the dozens.

Unless you've played Skyrim, that is, in which case you'll know the above is a load of bumfluff. All you really need to pull off the crime of the century is a common-or-garden bucket. Plonk it on the head of the nearest security/Royal/Swiss guard, and abracadabra! You're invisible! From this point forth, any felony you commit will go completely unnoticed, and you can literally fill your boots scot-free!

This actually works, though it wasn't supposed to. The get-out-of-jail bug was unearthed by coders just as Skyrim was preparing to go gold, but they decided it was so hilariously ridiculous, they'd leave it in as a reward for any player devious enough to try it. The philosophy, a riff on a more common idiom, was: if it doesn't break, don't fix it.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
