10 Video Game “Mistakes” That Were Totally Intentional
1. Magicka's Teleportation Bug
Magicka was renowned for giving players countless options. In the game, you can mix and match different elements in order to create all sorts of crazy magical spells with a myriad of different effects. One of the spells you learn later in the game is the ability to teleport. However, an exploit makes it possible to get this spell way earlier on.
If you combine certain elements and put down some mines at your feet in a specific location near the start of the game, you can use the force of the explosion to blow your character across the map and reach an area that you would never normally have been able to access, in order to grab the Teleport spell.
Playtesters discovered this exploit but the developers decided to leave it in as it showed off the exact kind of emergent, inventive gameplay they were hoping for while designing the game. Part of the fun of Magicka is seeing all the different ways in which you can push the game's limits with your spells, and this was a perfect example of that.
