2. Battling Maligog - Doom Eternal

Though Doom Eternal was rock-hard, it was a walk in the park compared to the DLC, The Ancient Gods. This time around, The Doom Slayer has to go toe-to-toe with Davoth the Dark Lord AKA The Devil himself.

However, reaching Hell's ruler is no easy task, since Doomguy must contend with nightmarish beasties, including Imps, Mancubi, Tyrants, and a few new demons, like Spirits and Screechers.

At the end of The Ancient Gods Part 1, the silent marine is confronted by the largest inhabitant in Hell, Maligog. Even though the Icon of Sin was gigantic, Maligog dwarfs the legendary fiend, standing approximately a mile high.

Although this sequence looks like it's setting up a boss fight, Maligog simply moves our hero to his next destination before anticlimactically scurrying away.

Since Maligog is mindbogglingly huge, first-time players might assume the boss fight with him is being saved for later. So, when he shows up before the final battle, players are ready to square off with the living skyscraper.

Instead, The Doom Slayer spars with generic goons while his allies slaughter Maligog off-screen. Which begs the question - why did the developers emphasise this towering behemoth on two separate occasions if you weren't going to fight him?
