10 Video Game Movies You Won't Believe Are In Development
9. Monster Hunter
Monster Hunter has established itself as one of Capcom’s major franchises. Seeing enormous success with it’s most recent entry, Monster Hunter World, it became Capcom’s best-selling game of all-time at 15 million copies as of January 2020.
Film plans have been in the works since 2016 but the success of MH World has accelerated development and, not content with working on just one Capcom franchise, Resident Evil director Paul W.S. Anderson is at the helm for this new adaptation.
It’s confirmed to be a loose adaptation, and like Resi, stars Anderson's wife Milla Jovovich in a leading role as Captain Natalie Artemis, alongside Tony Jaa, Ron Perlman and rapper T.I.
Working within a UN military squad, the premise sees Captain Artemis' team falling into a portal that leads to a different world, working with the local hunters to fight off giant monsters and defend the portal.
These changes has left fans concerned and are somewhat surprising considering Anderson’s previously stated love for Monster Hunter.
We can only hope this translates into a pleasant surprise when released next year but when taking into account the largely negative reception his Resident Evil films received, hopes are not high.
