10 Video Game NPCs Who Could've Solved EVERYTHING (But Didn't)

9. The Merchant - Resident Evil 4 Remake

Resident Evil 4's Merchant is one of the most iconic characters in the franchise, but it's painfully clear he could certainly be a tad more expedient in doling out his wares in the recent remake.

Though in the original game the hell-raising Rocket Launcher was made available to players from the very first time they encounter the Merchant in the game's first chapter - albeit for a princely 30,000 Pesetas - in the remake it's held off until chapter four.

Only once players have defeated the Del Lago lake monster will they be able to purchase the Rocket Launcher from the Merchant, at the much heftier cost of 80,000 Pesetas no less. Inflation is a bitch, right?

Given that the Rocket Launcher is by far the most powerful weapon in the game, felling all but the biggest bosses in record time, refusing to fork it over for the first three-to-four hours of the game is just straight-up trolling.

And on top of that, you're only given one rocket to fire for the price, after which the Rocket Launcher will disappear from your inventory entirely. Capitalism is absolutely disgusting, and it didn't have to be this way.
