10 Video Game NPCs Who Could've Solved EVERYTHING (But Didn't)
3. Dutch Van Der Linde - Red Dead Redemption
Red Dead Redemption 2's early plot is propelled forward by gang leader Dutch van der Linde, who sets up heists with the continual promise that the next score will be their last.
And yet, despite clearly amassing a hefty wedge of cash and wearing the finest clothes of just about any major character in the game, Dutch just. Won't. Stop.
It becomes hilariously clear in the later portions of the game that Dutch could've easily cut bait and just stopped his life of crime, but the guy just freakin' loves it too much.
Dutch is obsessed with cultivating a cult of personality around a loosely defined plan that basically amounts to "one more heist!" ad nauseum, and using it to control those in his midst for the sake of his own ego.
There's even a shockingly believable fan theory that Dutch was born to a wealthy family and, again, doesn't need to be out there committing heists, but dammit, the guy gets off on the thrill of it. And that, ultimately, it was led to his demise at the end of the first game.
Just know when to quit, man.
