Fire Emblem: Three Houses is one of the most celebrated entries in the long-running strategy franchise. It continues the trend of blending strategic action with a narrative and mechanics that ensure the player truly cares about the characters. They're not just expendable units, they're beloved allies.

Early in the campaign (across whichever route you happen to be taking), you'll encounter the Death Knight. While a lot of the game's foes are rather samey knights, archers, soldiers and such, it's clear right from the first glance that this is not a foe to be trifled with. His menacing appearance and moniker make it plain: you shouldn't just charge in and try to sweep him away.

Able to counter melee and ranged attacks alike (which some exceptions), and wielding the Scythe of Sariel, he's anything but a standard unit. New players will surely be intimidated by the Spirits of the Fallen that tend to surround his location on the battlefield when playing online.

He is the only source of Dark Seals in the game, and special anti-cavalry measures need to be taken against him, depending on the difficulty setting and the point of the game at which he's encountered.
