5. Andrew Got His Job Through Nepotism - Star Fox Series

In the Star Fox games, a game where you play as spaceship-piloting animals (and to this day, I insist that Fox and Falco, the fox and falcon, would straight-up eat Peppy and Slippy, the hare and frog), you might be forgiven for thinking the connections between the characters would be threadbare at best.

But no - it had my most emotional moment of that console generation, when James McCloud, Fox’s deceased father, appeared to help his son escape Andross’ fortress. What a finale.

Star Wolf - the bane of our heroes and the right-hand men of Andross (the game’s antagonist) - is a team made up of Wolf, Leon, Pigma, and... er... Andrew.

What you might know is that Andrew is Andross’ young nephew, but what you might not is that he’s actually a bit of a sycophant and a really crap pilot, and Andross appointed him to this crack team of evil pilots... just to get him out of his sight.

After Lylat Wars, you might notice Andrew isn’t a part of Star Wolf - Wolf gave him his P45 for being rubbish, and without an enormous floating space ape uncle to cover for him.

Tale as old as time.
