Fallout: New Vegas' quest "The Legend of the Star" sees Sunset Sarsaparilla robot Festus instructing players to fetch 50 Sunset Sarsaparilla star bottle caps in order to receive a prize.

Now, collecting 50 star bottle caps takes forever in this game, so players are quite reasonable to expect a hefty reward at the end of it all.

But when you return to Festus, player rage is guaranteed when the "reward" is nothing more than him regaling you with the story of how Sunset Sarsaparilla came to be. And to rub salt in the wound, at the end of the story you'll get a "quest failed" message appear.

But wait, there's more. Cheesed-off players - that is, everyone - can talk to Festus again and register their dissatisfaction, and he'll then tell them to head around the corner and claim the real prize that Sunset Sarsaparilla decided to include after receiving so many complaints.

Though the "attendant" appointed to dispense the prize is now a mere skeletal corpse, you can loot him for a ton of bottlecaps and the Pew Pew, an extremely potent laser pistol. Talk about an emotional rollercoaster.
