The potential for Bungie’s post-Halo IP Destiny was high, as was the hype around it. Whilst the series has so far been a financial success, it's also had way more controversy and complications than anticipated.

In the original version of Destiny, players are awoken from their slumber at the start of the game by the A.I. Ghost as played by Peter Dinklage. Dinklage, who was a sizzling hot commodity at the time due to his work on Game of Thrones, became the player’s companion for the entire campaign which certainly had its variety of reactions to it. Whilst some were fine with his performance, others criticised a lazy and unemotive take on the dialogue.

Who could ever forget “that wizard came from the moon”? A line that was removed and then re-added twice due to fan backlash.

Due to “Hollywood nonsense” (in the words of executive producer Mark Noseworthy) or more specifically Dinklage’s high work demands, Ghost was recast in the September 2015 Taken Kings update. Retroactively, prolific voice artist Nolan North replaced Dinklage’s previous output. Those who hated Ghost’s original voice were happy; those that were fine with Dinklebot felt at the very least slighted.

Debates still rage today on which voice was the better Ghost but along the way both camps had their own reasons to get pissed off.
