This secret is concerned less with the visual or aural content of the pause screen itself than what it ends up producing from the player's controller.

Those playing Zombie Army 4: Dead War on PS4 get an especially eerie "treat" if they leave the game paused for around a minute.

Suddenly, the DualShock 4's in-built speaker will emit the haunting, echo-y voice of someone whispering sweet nothings such as, "Play with me," "Come back and play," and "Where did you go?"

Needless to say, for anyone not expecting their controller to suddenly speak to them - that is, everyone - this can deliver quite the scare.

If you sneak downstairs at 3am to grab a snack, this just might make you think you've got a home intruder on your hands upon returning.

Other than that, though, it's persuasive proof that the DualShock 4's speaker was criminally underused throughout the PS4's life.
