If you had to learn step-by-step the most efficient way to disappoint someone, just look at what Blizzard did with Warcraft III: Reforged. Simply put, the remastered edition of Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and The Frozen Throne expansion had zero improvements.

Every bug and technical issue was still intact. Every positive factor from the original was removed or diluted. The graphics had regressed and the multiplayer was rendered unplayable. Because many hyped features like the cinematic cutscenes were absent, consumers felt like they bought the game under false pretences.

Reforged was so badly mishandled, gamers refused to play it, and instead, vowed to stick with the original.

Tragically, they couldn't!! Because Warcraft III automatically convert to Reforged, the original that fans spent hundreds of hours on was nowhere to be found. I mean, have you ever played a game that was so bad, it literally erased your favourite game from existence?! That's literally what happened here!

Gamers were so enraged, they review-bombed Reforged on Metacritic, making it briefly the site's lowest-rated game.

Instead of doing anything that resembled an apology, Blizzard doubled-down and defended every decision they made. When fans complained on the forum how they couldn't open the remaster, Blizzard had them banned!

Although Blizzard eventually fixed some of the issues, it was too little too late for the game community. Being ripped off, hurt, and insulted by the once untouchable gaming giant, it doesn't seem feasible for Blizzard to ever recover from this mess.
