10 Video Game Remasters That REMOVED Things Fans Loved
4. The Original Client - Warcraft 3: Reforged
The saving grace of terrible remasters or remakes is that, at the very least, fans can simply return to the original game they love. Don't like the new character models in The Last of Us Part 1? Simply buy the PS3 or PS4 version. Don't enjoy the new assets in Halo: Combat Evolved? No worries, the developers actually included the original game as part of the package and allow you to switch back to the regular graphics at the push of a button.
In the case of Warcraft 3: Reforged, however, simply ignoring the new version and sticking with what you liked wasn't a possibility.
That's because when this remake launched - a truly terrible title that managed to piss off its entire fanbase through a litany of unwanted changes and unfulfilled promises - it actually replaced the servers of the original MMO. So, even if you owned the Classic version, you'd be forced to download Reforged instead and play on that client.
This was the final straw for many fans, who felt they were being forced to play an inadequate successor.
