10 Video Game Rewards That Were Profoundly Insulting

4. Gold Chocobo - Final Fantasy VII

Final Fantasy VII was such a big hit in 1997 that its influence and presence still reverberate as powerfully as ever 16 years later.

One of its low points was the final battle. While the general atmosphere was very climactic, the actual final boss wasn't. FF VII devotes so much of its story to hyping antagonist Sephiroth as the biggest, baddest thing going. But, depending on your levels and items, the fight ranges from average difficulty to laughably easy.

This is why we have optional bosses like the Ruby Weapon, one of the hardest game bosses ever. Beating it basically requires you to have the overpowered Knights Of The Round materia - itself a rare summon.

Fortunately, your reward for slaying this beast is a rare golden Chocobo. Unfortunately, its only real purpose is to gain access to the island where you find Knights Of The Round. Which you've most likely already have done in preparation for this very fight.

It's a tough call to say this is as bad as Super Mario Sunshine's postcard or No Man's Sky's infinite replays. On one hand, you do, technically, receive an excellent reward, but on the other, that excellent reward is redundant at best and functionally useless.
