10 Video Game Rewards That Were Profoundly Insulting

3. More Cards - Final Fantasy VIII

It's ironic that Final Fantasy VII - one of the most impactful games ever made - was followed up by Final Fantasy VIII - one of the most forgettable games ever made. A love story that largely ignores its already dull supporting cast, a grind-heavy combat system, and a character building system that, while deep and nuanced, is also confusing as hell.

One of its high points (or low points, depending on whom you ask), is the Triple Triad card game. While entirely optional, playing it is incredibly useful, unlocking rewards and turning rare cards into incredibly useful items.

Completing the card game sidequest involves rising in the ranks, beating various Triple Triad masters, until you reach the reigning champ: The Queen Of Cards. And upon beating the Queen Of Cards, you get... more cards.

But that's not all! You also get to challenge her again in various locations around the world map to get... more cards again.

Your reward is basically doing that until you've collected them all, which gets you nothing but bragging rights that won't impress anybody.
