Blood Omen is a pretty obscure title, but the story of its secret location, which one knew how to enter for years, is so interesting that it would be a shame not to mention it here.

The isometric action-adventure game had a secret ship level called the HMCS Bitter. The fascinating thing is that people didn't even know of its existence until a group of programmers seeking to remake the game in 3D stumbled upon the ship in the game's files in 2010, almost fifteen years after the game's release.

Even though the ship was discovered, no one really knew how to access it. The game's community spent years searching for the answer, but even things like data mining yielded no results. Eventually, some people were able to access the ship by hacking the game; however, the legitimate way of entering HMCS Bitter remained unknown until another ten years had passed.

In 2020, game producer Denis Dyack revealed the method of accessing the ship in an interview. It apparently took activating a number of INVISIBLE switches scattered in completely random locations on the map. No wonder people weren't able to find it!
