10 Video Game Secrets So Well Hidden Developers Had To Help You Find Them
7. TimeSplitters 2 - Homefront: The Revolution
The Easter egg hidden within the 2016 Homefront is probably one of the best-known cases of an unfound secret in recent gaming history. It was a fully remastered port of TimeSplitters 2, a classic shooter game that, for the longest time, people thought was comprised of only the first two levels.
It wasn't until 2021 that one of the developers of Homefront, Matt Phillips, revealed in a tweet that the port actually contained the full game. The reason why people didn't know about this until then was because in order to play all of TimeSplitters 2, the player needed to input a special code.
As it turned out, Matt forgot the code a long time ago, and it seemed like this one (and only) great feature of Homefront was going to be lost to time.
However, as fate would have it, a few days later, the code was luckily discovered by some of the people on Twitter and revealed to the public. Everyone was finally able to access the only existing remaster of TimeSplitters 2 in its entirety.
The only catch was that they had to get through five hours of Homefront: The Revolution first.
