10 Video Game Secrets That Will NEVER Be Revealed
4. Fallout: New Vegas' "Lucky 38 Executive Override"
Fallout: New Vegas was expertly developed by Bethesda and it allowed players to complete the story no matter who they mercilessly slayed - even if it was every major player in every faction.
On this basis, you would be forgiven for thinking each little detail contained with the game had been fully developed and serving a purpose. You would also be wrong.
In multiple locations - namely, H&H Tools Factory, House Resort, New Vegas Steel and Central New Vegas sewers - players can activate the "Lucky 38 Executive Override". This gives the impression it would achieve something important, whether that be getting something as simple as an elevator to work.
However, it actually accomplishes nothing. Its original intention was to play a role in "The Moon Comes Over The Tower" quest but it was later removed because the culmination of the quest was underwhelming to begin with. Yet, the prompt to active the executive override remained there anyway.
Even if the end of the quest was underwhelming, it is incredibly annoying for a role-playing game to have a feature included which achieves nothing. Players want to know what would happen, but now they never will.
