10 Video Game Sequels Better Than The Original
5. Day Of The Tentacle
Maniac Mansion introduced us to the loveable, if not wacky and insane, Edison Family. While it had a lot of humour, it was also possible for you characters to die, making the game that much darker.
The point-and-click adventure took some bold steps, giving the player control over multiple characters and different ways of solving puzzles, but the story was a little weak and the atmosphere a bit dull.
Fortunately for us all, Purple Tentacle had a taste for radioactive sewage, and Dr. Ed Edison invented a time machine, allowing for the updated, and recently remastered, Day of the Tentacle. The graphical improvements and gameplay were improved, partly because of the six year gap between the two titles.
However, the puzzles were also more challenging, voice-over work was included to bring the characters to life, and the overall story a lot funnier.
