10 Video Game Sequels That Look WORSE Than What Came Before
8. Romance Of The Three Kingdoms 14
Koei-Tecmo has been spitting out Romance of the Three Kingdoms titles since 1985. Back then they were all pixelated maps and portraits, but by 2016 the games showcase beautifully rendered portraits, backgrounds, and cut scenes. Officers have polygonal models displayed when on screen, especially showcased during duel events. Each game an improvement over the last.
Well, not so much with 2020's recent release of the latest in the series: RTK 14. Major complaints of the game are poor optimization, the fact that the game is locked at 30fps no matter how good your graphics card is, and that the game suffers a major loss of quality in the officer models.
What makes the issue with the officer models even worse is the fact that some officers that used to have models for their characters don't any longer. Whether this is setting up a future of visual DLC offerings for things that used to be included in the base game, or just a visual downgrade is unsure given the game's been out for only a few months - the English release having come out at the end of February.
