10 Video Game Sequels That Prove Fans Shouldn't Get What They Want

How could God of War not feature on this list?

God of War is one of the best games to come out in the past few years, and that's in no small part because of how much it changed. Previous God of War games were great in their own way too, but they didn't really make much of an impact in any area besides the combat.

Sony Santa Monica's newest entry into Kratos' journey changes pretty much everything about the series, whilst still somehow managing to feel like it fits right into the franchise's universe. Combat is as brutal as ever, whilst still being completely reinvented and the world and presentation is as amazing as ever despite being a brand new location.

The real changes come when you look at how this journey is presented and how the characters interact. Kratos and Atreus have true depth to them and make the 30+ hours you'll spend with them feel like it barely scratches the surface. God of War is now truly interesting, and it had to ditch a lot of things to change.

Jumping through portals, swinging through cities, destroying beings made of darkness and occasionally shooting a gun or two. I also write about games.
