10 Video Game Sequels That Prove Fans Shouldn't Get What They Want

Although it may technically be a reboot, 2013's Tomb Raider feels more like a sequel to earlier games, and yet didn't resemble anything that the series had seen before.

Even with the massive amount of changes, Tomb Raider finally brought Lara Croft back into the limelight.

Ironically, the biggest changes with Tomb Raider come from the fact that it has now clearly been inspired by Uncharted, the series that was originally viewed as a rip-off of Tomb Raider. Combining that with a much darker and realistic (no dinosaurs here) tone, and Tomb Raider might as well have been from a different series altogether.

Yet, despite all of this, both the first and second entries into the new Tomb Raider were actually the best it had seen in a long time. Some fans may argue that it strays too far from the original formula, but that might be exactly what the franchise had been needing.

Let's hope that Shadow of the Tomb Raider continues the momentum.
