Star Wars: Battlefront was one of the single best ideas of the franchise's decades-long history, but its sequel would improve on this by quite literally taking it to the stars, and then some.

One of the major things Star Wars: Battlefront II brought into the fold was space battles. Piloting your starship, you were tasking with defeating your enemies and infiltrating the opposing mothership. While each stage was more or less the same, there is no doubting the epic feel of twisting and turning through the stars while you blasted the opposition into oblivion.

Plus, if you wanted more, varied stages, the rest of the game has you covered, as there were now an abundance of new maps to choose from, both from the original and prequel trilogies.

Battlefront II also introduced new game modes, a longer and more complete campaign, smarter AI, and an overall more responsive and versatile gameplay experience. This would also be the game to introduce playing as one of the film series' iconic heroes and villains, provided you earned that honor by being stilled as a soldier.

You truly had to work to be able to play as one of these characters, and if you did, it was certainly worth it, as you were then able, for a fleeting moment, to utterly decimate your foes.

While the first Battlefront was absolutely a great game, Star Wars: Battlefront II is not only that, but one of the single greatest pieces of Star Wars media ever created.
