3. Borderlands 2
Despite the original Borderlands releasing to instant success in 2009, caught onto the fact that Borderlands used its over-the-top charm to mask the fact that the game's story was virtually nonexistent. Moreover, the ending was abrupt an underwhelming, and while the game is undeniably a blast, fans who wanted something a bit more riveting were left sorely disappointed.
Enter Borderlands 2, which made up for it's predecessor's lack of a decent narrative with the brilliant villain known as Handsome Jack.
Considered one of the greatest video game villains of all time, Jack is charismatic, egotistical, sarcastic sociopath who once scooped out a man's eyes with a spoon, yet still believes he is the hero of the story. Through him, your character is given constant motivation to push on and ultimately defeat him.
Handsome Jack is Borderlands 2.
Let's not forget that the combat was much more polished, the map was bigger and more diverse, containing a slew of interesting and creative areas, and a final boss fight that blows that of the first game completely out the water.
