10 Video Game Sequels That Turned Wimps Into Total Badasses

1. John "Soap" MacTavish - Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

New SAS recruit John "Soap" MacTavish is the player character for most of Modern Warfare, and though he's certainly not a bad character, he just pales massively in comparison to his mentor, Captain Price, who is decidedly cooler and would've made for a far more appealing protagonist.

Rather ironically, however, Soap comes into his own in Modern Warfare 2 when he's only a playable character for the final three missions of the game, teaming up with Captain Price once again to take down turncoat Lt. General Shepherd.

If you thought Soap was a bit too aloof and bland in Modern Warfare, he decisively won over fans with his defining moment in the sequel: throwing a knife in Shepherd's eye, killing him.

Sadly Soap himself was killed in Modern Warfare 3, but thanks to the character's prior uptick in badassery, it actually landed with the intended emotional impact.
