While there'll no doubt be plenty of people saying that just about all the Call of Duty sequels weren't needed, for the most part they're still solid games. That said, the third Modern Warfare really was the beginning of the end, with its popularity leading to some of the worst titles the franchise has ever seen. Although Modern Warfare 2 didn't quite live up to the stature of the game-changing Call of Duty 4, it still pushed the series forward, introducing new elements and taking the story to new - if ridiculous - heights. Unfortunately, when the time came to start crafting another entry in the Modern Warfare sub-series, developers Infinity Ward were more or less a shell of their former selves. After a mass exodus inspired by the departure of studio heads Vince Zampella and Jason West, this third title was the first time Activision had to call on all their available studios to finish up. As a result, the final product was one of the most middling releases the series has ever seen. Unfortunately, Infinity Ward weren't ever able to bounce back, and the once leaders of the pack have played second-fiddle to B-team Treyarch ever since. Which video game sequels did the world just not need? Let us know in the comments!
