10 Video Game Sequels You Didn't Know Were Coming In 2021
Upcoming PS5, Xbox Series XS & Switch sequels this year.
Though the global impact of COVID-19 has unmistakably slowed down video game development, 2021 nevertheless seems set to be another banner year for the medium.
The PS5 alone will count new entries into the God of War, Horizon, and Ratchet and Clank franchises among its 2021 slate, but what about those lower-flying sequels you might not know about?
Even if you were aware that these 10 video game follow-ups were in development, you couldn't really be blamed for putting them to the back of your mind, given both their generally prolonged development cycles and, in some cases, the developers' radio silence in recent times.
But if things go according to plan, these sequels will all see the light of day before year's end, some of which are clearly already in an advanced state of polishing, while others haven't even offered up the first sliver of gameplay footage yet.
It's entirely possible a few of these games could slide to 2022 in this incredibly unpredictable time, but as of right now the plan is to get them in players' hands before 2021 wraps up...
10. The Wolf Among Us 2
Though Telltale's The Wolf Among Us never achieved the popularity of their episodic adventure series based on The Walking Dead, this adaptation of Bill Willingham's Fables comic book series nevertheless released to critical acclaim in 2013 and has enjoyed a cult following ever since.
While Telltale announced a second season in July 2017, the studio's shock closure the very next year led to the sequel's immediate cancellation, much to fans' dismay.
But all was not lost, as following Telltale's acquisition by LCG Entertainment, The Wolf Among Us 2 was confirmed to have been revived with a teaser trailer at The Game Awards 2019.
This version of the game is reportedly being built from scratch with all the original work being thrown out, and to ensure a more consistent release pattern all of the episodes are being developed together as a whole.
Though word has been quiet on the game's development since, multiple sources indicate The Wolf Among Us 2 will be landing at the tail-end of the year. For an episodic title which began development in mid-2019, that sounds about right.
