10 Video Game Sequels You Didn't Know Were Coming In 2021
9. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2
Survival horror FPS sequel S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 was first announced all the way back in 2010, just a few years after the original game, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, was released.
The initial planned 2012 release date was missed (obviously) as a result of two cancellations, and after many years of radio silence, the sequel was resurrected in May 2018 with a target release date of 2021.
Screenshots and in-engine gameplay video finally began to surface last year, and just recently developers GSC Game World confirmed the game would both feature 4K and ray tracing support, and also be releasing on Xbox Game Pass day one.
They added that production was "progressing smoothly," and though they don't exactly have a strong track record where sticking to release dates is concerned, if we see a full trailer in the coming months it's actually plausible we'll be playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 by year's end.
