3. Bloodborne – One Third Of Umbilical Cord

Red Dead Redemption 2
FromSoftware

Featuring similar gameplay to sister series Dark Souls, Bloodborne released in 2015, casting players as a monster hunter within the city of Yharnam.

Finding its population afflicted by a plague, you enter a realm called the Hunter’s Dream. Within lies Doll, a living life-sized doll and Gehrman, the First Hunter. Giving advice to other hunters, Gehrman informs players that in order to escape, you must halt this plague and stop the monsters attacking Yharnam.

After defeating many great beasts, you’ll eventually return to Hunter's Dream and Gehrman offers to send you back. Accept this and you’ll return back to the real Yharnam post-plague but if you refuse, Gehrman becomes hostile. Initating a boss fight, you’ll become binded to the Dream upon his defeat and unwittingly take over his role.

It's a binary choice but Bloodborne offers a secret third ending, unlocked by collecting three parts of Umbilical Cord beforehand. Covered with eyes, you’ll need to consume these disgusting items before fighting Gehrman.

You’ll still need to refuse him but upon winning, this initiates a secret boss fight with the Moon Presence. Once you’re victorious, you’ll end up transforming into an infant Great One, the ancient beings once worshipped in Yharman.

Doll will then find you, remarking “Oh, good hunter” and take you into her care, making for one truly strange ending.
