10 Video Game Side-Quests That Were Better Than The Main Story

4. Kafei And Anju - Majora's Mask

The Witcher 3 Geralt
Nintendo

This quest-line is the heart and soul of Majora's Mask. Everyone remembers the coming apocalypse and the heroic quest to save the entire world, but what makes that grandiose adventure so meaningful is Kafei and Anju.

You are tasked with reuniting the pair of lovers and are forced to do quite a lengthy and engrossing quest-line to make it happen. You finally get that reward of seeing them back together only for the moon to collide with the earth moments later proving that it was all in vain.

It is the emotional core of what makes Majora's Mask so meaningful. Sure, you have your epic quest, but Kafei and Anju are the pair that makes it mean something. You are working to save them after you put so much effort into getting them back together. It puts the entire adventure into context and reveals the real painful ramifications of the end of the world.
