10 Video Game Sub-Bosses Who DESTROYED Players

8. Onikage - Tenchu Series

Resident evil 4
Sony Computer Entertainment

Looking like the frontman to a mid-2000s nu-rock group, Onikage endured (both in terms of memorability and literal baddie career) for far, far longer than Tenchu’s main baddies.

Hell, did you remember that the main bad guy from Tenchu: Stealth Assassins was called Lord Mei-Oh (I did, but only because I’ve used the same “what if his first name was tuna” joke for about twenty years)? And what about Tenchu 2 with... Betrayal Brother and... Booby Lady?

Onikage is a great baddie, because he’s persistent, relentless, has a personal grudge with our hero Rikimaru, and... oh aye, he’s also immortal (which, not going to lie, is a big plus when you’re a guy who insists upon getting into swordfights half-naked, without any weapon).

Yet, despite his flamboyant cockiness, Onikage can back it up with some brutal moves - with a flurry of kicks he can mince through a health bar (and his signature scissor-kick takes off about half in one go), and when he’s feeling a bit peaky he’ll just chug down a health drink for grade-A annoyingness.

Far more deadly than Lord Mei-Oh, whose... whose first name is probably Egg.

Say it out loud.

... I'll see myself out.
