10 Video Game Sub-Bosses Who DESTROYED Players

6. U-3 - Resident Evil 4

Resident Evil 4 is absolutely loaded with sub-bosses who end up being scarier to fight than the actual big bads.

Salvador, for example, is a persistent and frankly terrifying presence right from the start of the game, and the laddie (who, apparently, is so disturbing to look at he’d rather look like a literal sack of tatties) chases you down relentlessly, with no hesitation when cleaving your Backstreet Boys head right off.

In addition, the Regenerators are my personal most anus-clenching (though their stance as a miniboss might be contentious), with their chilling whimpers and pale, burst-cushion backsides.

However, U-3 (not to be confused with U-1, the equally disturbing hero of Gitaroo Man) is a true terror to look at, and even more harrowing to fight. In a labyrinth of cages, players must guide Leon through without getting trapped - getting cornered is almost certainly a death sentence - whilst plugging the gross big celeriac creature with everything he’s got.

However, most players note that by this point in the game, they don’t have enough ammunition to put U-3 down - it takes a small arsenal to end it - so they have to fight the Human Centipede with their carrot peeler.
