10 Video Game Things They KEEP GETTING WRONG

9. Embracing NFTs

Publishers are all about making money.

Behind closed doors, they gather in darkened rooms and snicker to themselves as they plot new ways to insert money-making schemes into their games. First it was microtransactions. Then it was loot boxes. Now, they're all giddy about NFTs.

You can't have missed all the rubbish going around the net about NFTs. Non-fungible tokens are all the rage at the moment, and already several big publishers are eyeing NFTs and wondering - 'how can we get these in our games and make loads of money from them?'

Thankfully, the collective gaming community seems to be standing firm against the prospect of NFTs. Most of the reception towards them has been universally negative so far (apart from a Castlevania anniversary NFT sale which somehow raised over $100,000).

Unfortunately, big publishers don't have a tendency to actually listen to us. We can only shudder to think what absolute NFT dross they'll pack into games going forward. We 100% predict in the next few years several 'big' releases will be completely ruined by NFTs.
