10 Video Game Things They KEEP GETTING WRONG
6. Fortnite-Style Skins Invade EVERYTHING
Should a serious shooter such as Battlefield include skins which allow you to dress up as Santa Claus? Did it really, honestly, need to have it?
Of course it did! Everyone knows that Fortnite is popular with the kids, and that's packed full of all of the zany and wacky characters you could ever want. Unfortunately, that means that everyone sees the dollar signs pouring in from Fortnite, and every single game that comes out now seems to have to include ridiculous skins that totally do not fit at all into the game.
We do get it. Fortnite literally prints money for EPIC Games, and everyone wants to copy their success. Young gamers hoover up all of this stuff, and it makes complete financial sense for a company to do this. That said, it just feels completely wrong.
Games have created an artificial economy based around lines of code to unlock new skins. Back in the day, you could have had all of this for free, simply by purchasing a game as a one-off.
Just wait until the NFTs start rolling in and they offer one-of-a-kind skins to only one player.
Sometimes it just makes you want to pack it all in and give up gaming, doesn't it?
