Want to save your game from the dreaded Metacritic score of under 80?

Slap an early access label on it, allow people to buy the game for real money even though you know it's broken as hell and not ready to play properly, and reap the rewards as you dodge those pesky game journalists and their full review scores.

Many outlets have actually got policies in place to not actually give full review scores to early access games.

Early access not for you, and you're planning to fill your game full of other stuff to sap the money out of gamers' wallets? Why not put the game out with all elements of microtransactions completely missing, get some great scores from journos as you've made a traditional game minus all the microtransaction BS, then wait about a month before chucking it in when you've got your good Metacritic score.

Yes, we're looking at you, Crash Team Racing Nitro Fuelled and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
