10 Video Game Trophies That REALLY Test Your Patience

3. Pac-Man 256’s “Multiplied Mayhem” Trophy

Pac-Man is one of the most iconic video games of all time, a concept that has been taken and adapted by countless other titles over the years. The original series itself continues to riff on and modify the formula.

Some constants remain, though: those pesky ghosts will always be the bane of Pac-Man’s existence, their spawns will always be trickily timed, and the Power Pill will always run out at the most inopportune moment. Pac-Man 256 hit PlayStation 4 in 2016, and it featured a devious trophy that plays on all of these issues.

“Multiplied Mayhem” requires the player to reach a x16 multiplier from ghosts with a Power Pellet, while playing in single-player. A single Power Pellet, that is, which means that this is essentially impossible unless the ghosts (and lots of them) and their AI want to play along with you.

There’s a significant saving grace in that the Power Pellet can be ‘reset’ by collecting another while the current one is in progress, but depending on the state of play, this can really take some doing.
