10 Video Game Villains Who Could Have Saved The World
2. GlaDOS (Portal)
Aperture Science went through a lot of hard times but with the invention of the Portal Gun, they finally found a winner. Unfortunately, during the testing process of the Portal Gun, Aperture invented an AI named GlaDOS - initially created to be responsible for testing and maintenance of the labs, GlaDOS also became self-aware immediately, attempting to kill every Aperture scientist moments after her activation. With a new morality core fitted (to prevent her from killing anyone), GlaDOS started to test the Portal Gun by having human test subjects complete puzzles using the device. Rather than doing this for the benefit of mankind though, GlaDOS does it for a sense of euphoria that she is programmed to receive on completion of a test. Still, having completed the tests, the subject should be proficient with the Portal Gun and able to help use the new technology to help mankind, right? Wrong. Instead, if a test subject completes all the test chambers, GlaDOS sends them into a fiery pit and leaves them for dead. GlaDOS' contempt for humans is evident but while she is disconnected from the facility (and put into a potato battery), she shows a lot more warmth towards Chell, indicating that the personality used to create GlaDOS is still buried somewhere deep inside. With humanity enslaved by the Combine on the surface, a Portal Gun that can move people in an instant would be a helpful tool to possess. The ending of Portal 2 shows that GlaDOS has the ability to free her test subjects - instead, she continuously tests and kills them for her own amusement.
I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
