10 Video Game Villains With The WORST Motivations

5. Lazarevic - Uncharted 2

Naughty Dog

Nathan Drake's adventure through frosty mountain alcoves, towering Nepalese rooftops and tropical jungles in Borneo is one of the finest single-player experiences in the realm of video games, yet the otherwise exemplary title is often criticised for it's lacklustre villain.

Never deviating from his one-note motivation, Lazarevic is as boring as they come. An eastern-European warlord with a thick accent and even thicker neck treads the same path as countless villains that came before him.

Lazarevic and his scores of followers are always hot on Nate's tail, never giving our hero the time to unwind. Yet, his motivation for such reckless behaviour lies in finding and drink the sap from the tree of life buried deep in the mythical city of Shambhala, granting him otherworldly strength and vigour.

A great Uncharted story is never quite complete without a villainous presence breathing down Nate's back, and Lazarevic succeeds in doing so, but when the pair meet one final time at the roots of the fabled tree, the warlord's motivation for being there rather spoils the final showdown.

Scores of guardians who fell victim to the sap's effects were quickly overcome by them, so why would Lazarevic be so quick to use it?

Fan of ducks, ice tea and escapism. Spends much of his time persistently saying 'I have so much studying to do' before watching Zoey 101 for the millionth time. Thinks Uncharted 3 is the best one.
