10 Video Games Accused Of Having Hidden Agendas

7. Battlefield 4 Is Culturally Invading China

Shortly after the release of Battlefield 3: China Rising, the game was banned completely in China. Bizarrely enough, the Chinese National Defence Newspaper described the game as an attack on China€™s national sovereignty, and suggested that the DLC pack represented a €œcultural invasion€ on the part of the US.

The game was deemed as a national security risk and removed from all stores; those who had already purchased the game were encouraged to return their copies to stores immediately. The game was seen as an ideological encroachment on Chinese identity, an attempt on the part of the United States to indoctrinate the Chinese populous into accepting western ideals. Worse still, the Chinese government took issue with EA€™s portrayal of the country, suggesting that the company had purposely demonised them, pegging them as the bad guys.
