Silent Hill: Homecoming is one of the games in the franchise that only the most die-hard of series fans will have probably played. Which is a shame, because for as lame as some of these later games got, they were some of the only releases at the time that provided a more classically-inclined survival horror experience in a genre that was gradually moving into Resident Evil 6 gun-ho territory. Homecoming itself did the series justice by featuring a number of grotesque monster designs, all in classic Silent Hill fashion. The most terrifying of these being the second boss, the spider-like Scarlet who traumatises you over the course of the early game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwzz1YAqrro Made up of warped porcelain limbs, Scarlet was supposed to be the personification of the guilt a character felt about killing their own daughter. Combine that haunting backstory with the weird design itself and you were left with all the elements for a boss that had the ability to truly get under your skin.
