10 Video Games Based On Movies That Actually Didn't Suck

3. The Godfather (Series)

Drama This entry is a collection of the two entries into The Godfather series of video games; both are of the sandbox variety, and like many games in the genre, feature you taking on felonious activities in order to gain money and notoriety. The first game was heavily criticised for its repetition, but as a fan of The Godfather, it certainly doesn't take anything away for me. In the second game, EA takes the formula of its predecessor and completely upgrades everything. The rival safe houses are unique, the landscape of New York City has been altered to be more realistic, and you can even level-up your weapons. Of course, it would be a disservice to the game not to mention the addition of the "Black Hand 2.0" fighting system, where you can target specific limbs in combat, and implement fatal executions on your opponent. One of the coolest aspects was the Don's View mode, where the player was given a strategy game. You could control your soldiers, promote them, and get them to protect territories, or take over new businesses. The game, though short and formulaic, is very enriching, even empowering to a fan of the films.

I'm a fan of pop-culture in all mediums: Music, Film, Gaming, Comics, TV, Whatever. I can generally find something enjoyable in even the worst trash. I guess as a B-Horror enthusiast, I kind of have to. Currently I'm an author working on a manuscript for a crime novel, and attending school to be an Environmental Health and Safety Technician. In the past I've made a go at running in an election for MLA (Member of the Legislative Assembly) for my hometown of Glace Bay. I was 23 at the time, and though I lost (by like a lot), I learned a lot more about politics in a month than I ever learned. Get at me on Twitter @DanWilsonWC
